Diamond neglected to ship this book to my comic shop, so no review.

INCURSION 1 330x500 Comic Review for week of February 20th, 2019
Absolutely fantastic story that I feel like I was missed the first couple issues of, but didn’t feel like it was necessarily a bad thing.

TRUE BELIEVERS CAPTAIN MARVEL BINARY 1 324x500 Comic Review for week of February 20th, 2019
The X-Men in space, along with a depowered Carol Danvers, encounter some aliens that do experiments on Carol. She ends up with “Binary” powers and uses them to recharge the x-men’s warp drive to send them on their way, while rejecting her human heritage. She then goes on to wander space.

TRUE BELIEVERS CAPTAIN MARVEL EARTHS MIGHTIEST HERO 1 324x500 Comic Review for week of February 20th, 2019
One of the more recent True Believer books I’ve read, this is the story of how she went from the cutesy “Ms Marvel” to using the more badass name of “Captain Marvel”. It’s a fun story.

SUPERB 17 325x500 Comic Review for week of February 20th, 2019
An afteraction report of the action in the previous book, with some holier than thou line thrown at the bad(?) guy. The follow up story was interesting but not enough.

JUDGE DREDD TOXIC 4 329x500 Comic Review for week of February 20th, 2019
Diamond neglected to ship this book to my comic shop, so no review.

RELAY 4 325x500 Comic Review for week of February 20th, 2019
On his search for the creator, our hero finds more than he bargained for.

SOLO A STAR WARS STORY 5 325x500 Comic Review for week of February 20th, 2019
Solo was one of my favorite movies of the year, and the scene that they replicate in this book is one of my favorite scenes.

It is not done as well here and I regret buying this book.

TRUE BELIEVERS CAPTAIN MARVEL KREESKRULL WAR 1 324x500 Comic Review for week of February 20th, 2019
The Avengers and Captain Marvel in a book with way too many words in it.

X O MANOWAR 24 330x500 Comic Review for week of February 20th, 2019
X-O needs to reboot, which is going to take 24 hours(?!), so while he waits for the reboot he gets his butt kicked from here to there, then from there and back again.

BATMAN BEYOND 29 329x500 Comic Review for week of February 27th, 2019
Batman Beyond fighting the Joker with some weird twist ending.

BLOODSHOT RISING SPIRIT 4 330x500 Comic Review for week of February 27th, 2019
Boring.
BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER 2 325x500 Comic Review for week of February 27th, 2019
I’m still not happy with this weirdo elseworlds version of Buffy. it’s too brief, the story is too jilted and I think I’m going to drop it from my pull list.

FIREFLY 4 325x500 Comic Review for week of February 27th, 2019
Still an ok series but I’m really not sure where this is all going.

HEROES IN CRISIS 6 329x500 Comic Review for week of February 27th, 2019
The reuse of panels is a huge problem with this mini series and the content feels horribly stretched out. So far I think the 5 issues could have been condensed down to two.

KINO 14 325x500 Comic Review for week of February 27th, 2019
Was that time travel? Who knows!

ASPEN COMICS 2019 YEAR AHEAD 1 325x500 Comic Review for week of February 27th, 2019
Who knew that Aspen was still publishing? Raise your hands!

MARVEL PREVIEWS 20 333x500 Comic Review for week of February 27th, 2019
Diamond neglected to ship even a single one of these to my LCS. Thanks Diamond!

STAR TREK THE Q CONFLICT 2 329x500 Comic Review for week of February 27th, 2019
Diamond neglected to ship even a single one of these to my LCS. Thanks Diamond!

STAR TREK VS. TRANSFORMERS 5 325x500 Comic Review for week of February 27th, 2019
One of the best retro future comics I’ve read in a long time. It never once waivered in delivering the exact feel of both the Star Trek Animated series and the Transformers series. It’s hokey and corny and I loved every page of it.

STAR WARS DOCTOR APHRA 29 325x500 Comic Review for week of February 27th, 2019
Doctor Aphra <3 killer robot man. SUMMIT 13 325x500 Comic Review for week of February 27th, 2019
they really nailed the one legged man’s attitude. he could have only gotten more perfect if he was wearing a MAGA hat.

THE FORGOTTEN QUEEN 1 329x500 Comic Review for week of February 27th, 2019
Why did anyone forgot this woman? She apparently killed thousands and she isn’t even a footnote? I look forward to reading more about her and how forgettable she is.

TRUE BELIEVERS CAPTAIN MARVEL AVENGER 1 324x500 Comic Review for week of February 27th, 2019
True Believers usually pull from the deep archives, and this is no different. It’s deep and I just couldn’t care about this story here.

TRUE BELIEVERS CAPTAIN MARVEL BETRAYED 1 324x500 Comic Review for week of February 27th, 2019
I think Ms Marvel was only in about 5 panels of this otherwise fantastic story, though it was weird to have all the x-women in swimsuits just randomly in the third act.

TRUE BELIEVERS CAPTAIN MARVEL NEW MS. MARVEL 1 324x500 Comic Review for week of February 27th, 2019
Lizard men!

CHAMPIONS 2 325x500 Comic Review for week of February 6th, 2019I’m saving this one for when I fill the 10 issue hole I found I have, then I’ll re-read all of them G.I. JOE A REAL AMERICAN HERO 259 329x500 Comic Review for week of February 6th, 2019Story continues to move along at a fast pace and the art is ok.  Not sure if this book is going to survive my next subscription culling.G.I. JOE SIERRA MUERTE 1 325x500 Comic Review for week of February 6th, 2019Horrible Art, uninteresting story and I have the next 3 issues on order all ready 🙁 HALO LONE WOLF 2 325x500 Comic Review for week of February 6th, 2019Lone Spartans are the best kind of Spartans, and this is the best kind of story.
YOUNG JUSTICE 2 329x500 Comic Review for week of February 6th, 2019The story is going in a completely bat crap crazy direction, which I truly love.
NOBLE 15 325x500 Comic Review for week of February 6th, 2019If you could fly, would you? I would.
STAR WARS 61 325x500 Comic Review for week of February 6th, 2019There’s a lot of cross chatter about Aphra here, but no appearance.  Han does get back to the Falcon though, so that was a pleasant reunion to witness.
STAR WARS AGE OF REPUBLIC ANAKIN SKYWALKER 1 325x500 Comic Review for week of February 6th, 2019Anakin Skywalker is always a bit of a mess of a character to do stories with.  He’s a mass murder that hunted down and killed thousands of men, women, and children, and yet most authors want to write him like he’s a great guy that just happened to go wrong one day. THE FREEZE 3 325x500 Comic Review for week of February 6th, 2019The story is going places that I guess I should have guessed, but I didn’t, so I’m somewhat surprised by the twists and turns every time.TRUE BELIEVERS CAPTAIN MARVEL MS. • Comic Review for week of January 16, 2019
The above scene does not happen in the book, but the stuff that DOES happen is pretty fun.  If a bloodbath is your definition of fun.

  • Comic Review for week of January 16, 2019
I’m really digging the fact that there are aliens in the Dredd-verse.  It’s weird to wrap my head around, but I dig it.

  • Comic Review for week of January 16, 2019
End of the series?  This final story wraps up a whole bunch of interesting things that were just really starting to come to light.

  • Comic Review for week of January 16, 2019
Why yes that is a Transformer that’s in the shape of the TOS Enterprise.

  • Comic Review for week of January 16, 2019
Three different stories, all of them good and worthy of a whole book.

  • Comic Review for week of January 16, 2019
Pretty sure I should have read the first 10 issues of this series to get even a clue as to what’s going on here.

  • Comic Review for week of January 16, 2019
At no point did this scene happen in the comic.  The B-Story in this book was better then the A-Story.

  • Comic Review for week of January 16, 2019
These True Believer books are usually a bit of a slog to get though, the writing and art from so long ago are at times rough, but these four Conan ones have really exposed me to some cool stories.  In this one there’s a mage with golden bones that’s holding a monster at bay, all while marrying a kidnapped princess.  I loved every minute of it, but was happy when I was done.

  • Comic Review for week of January 16, 2019
A group of black African warriors as led by a raven haired white girl.  Ok.

UNIT 44 1 325x500 Comic Review for week of January 30, 2019These comics remind me a lot of comics from the 70’s and 80s, for all the right reasons, including that glorious price.

BLOODSHOT RISING SPIRIT 3 325x500 Comic Review for week of January 30, 2019Still no delivery from Diamond for this issue.

EXILES 12 325x500 Comic Review for week of January 30, 2019This is the final issue in a series that I never felt found its feet but none the less had fantastic ideas and art.

HEROES IN CRISIS 5 325x500 Comic Review for week of January 30, 2019This entire mini series has been peppered with amazing art, a poor story, and art that’s repeated 9 times on a single page.

INCIDENTALS 15 325x500 Comic Review for week of January 30, 2019I think this is only my second issue of this series, so I’m pretty lost.

INFINITE DARK 4 329x500 Comic Review for week of January 30, 2019Final issue of the first story arc and wow this is great comic book horror.  I look forward to the next arc in a couple months.

KINO 13 325x500 Comic Review for week of January 30, 2019No idea, but it wasn’t terrible.

LOST IN SPACE COUNTDOWN TO DANGER 1 326x500 Comic Review for week of January 30, 201950 pages for $18, not worth it at all.  I regret buying this an urge you to not waste your money.  The cover for this comic was thicker than the pages were!

MARVEL KNIGHTS 20TH 6 325x500 Comic Review for week of January 30, 2019I didn’t realize this was a mini series, but this was the last issue of it.  It felt rushed and left all sorts of plot threads just hanging around out there, so I’m sure there will be a sequel.

MARVEL PREVIEWS 19 362x500 Comic Review for week of January 30, 2019It’s just a preview of stuff that’s coming up.  I’m going to stop getting these because they’re nearly pointless at this point in time.

MYSTERIES OF LOVE IN SPACE 1 325x500 Comic Review for week of January 30, 2019Frustratingly enough, the story that interested me was how Lois Lane fell in love with Darkseid.  Guess what story wasn’t in here?  There’s a couple others that by far make up for the insult of advertising an interesting story on the cover and not even mentioning it inside.

SOLO A STAR WARS STORY 4 325x500 Comic Review for week of January 30, 2019I’m done with these adaptations, they’re just so lifeless and pointless.

STAR TREK THE Q CONFLICT 1 329x500 Comic Review for week of January 30, 2019I’m not a fan of what’s going on here.  The concept at it’s root is pretty cool, but it just feels so contrived that I nearly broke an eyeball whilst rolling it every other page.

STAR WARS ADVENTURES 17 COVER B 329x500 Comic Review for week of January 30, 2019Flight of the falcon continues!  Han finally gets shot at …again!

STAR WARS DOCTOR APHRA 28 324x500 Comic Review for week of January 30, 2019Doctor Aphra’s adventures with the burder bot continue.

THE PUNISHER 7 325x500 Comic Review for week of January 30, 2019Frank is still imprisoned in a soon to be new country and I have to say I’m really interested in seeing how they’re going to resolve this.  My money is that everyone gets away and there are no major deaths.  Major props to Marvel for referencing content from the original Punisher run though!

TRUE BELIEVERS CONAN RESURRECTION 1 324x500 Comic Review for week of January 30, 2019

TRUE BELIEVERS WHAT IF CONAN THE BARBARIAN WALKED THE EARTH TODAY 1 324x500 Comic Review for week of January 30, 2019

UNCANNY X MEN 3D 1 325x500 Comic Review for week of January 30, 2019One of the most gimmicky things comics has ever done is the 3d glasses art style, and like a sucker, I went and bought this one for way too much money.  The effect is nearly ruined by the red part of the glasses being too dark, and none of the character’s personalities are recognizable to their modern versions, but it was still a fun read, and a reminder that I should stop buying into gimmick books just to say I experienced the stupid gimmick.

SECOND COMING 1 Comic Review for week of July 10th, 2019
For a series that had so much outrage and indignation, this ultimately turned out to be a heartfelt story about how punching things isn’t always the best answer and that sometimes love and healing is what’s needed to make the world a better place.

STAR WARS 68 Comic Review for week of July 10th, 2019
The first issue of a new storyline and not much has changed, which isn’t to say that this was a bad issue, I’m just happy that the quality of the book has stayed about the same.

STAR WARS AGE OF RESISTANCE CAPTAIN PHASMA 1 Comic Review for week of July 10th, 2019
They’re really making Phasma out to be irredeemably evil in this one shot. What a horrible character!

TRUE BELIEVERS ABSOLUTE CARNAGE CARNAGE 1 Comic Review for week of July 10th, 2019
This was back when Carnage was a bad guy but the art wasn’t all too obvious about his misdeeds.

TRUE BELIEVERS ABSOLUTE CARNAGE VENOM VS. CARNAGE 1 Comic Review for week of July 10th, 2019
This is a great example of a really gross art style for a really gross character, and I mean that in the best way. Both Venom and Carnage are horror characters that get a soft lens in most of their appearances, but this issue really brought their horror roots to the forefront.

FALLEN WORLD 3 COVER D PRE ORDER BUNDLE EDITION Comic Review for week of July 10th, 2019
Dan Abnett continues to impress with his story set in my favorite time period of the Valiant universe. Also, there’s more War Mother, which I also always appreciate.

INCIDENTALS 19 Comic Review for week of July 10th, 2019
End of the series and it feels rushed and confused.

MARVEL ACTION BLACK PANTHER 2 Comic Review for week of July 10th, 2019
The story and art both feel incredibly rushed and unpolished, I’m sure IDW can do better in the future.

NOBLE 19 Comic Review for week of July 10th, 2019
End of the series and it feels rushed and confused.

OBLIVION SONG 17 Comic Review for week of July 10th, 2019
I’m still missing four issues of this series, so I’m still holding off on reading this. Recent developments have reminded me that I love Kirkman’s writing, so I’ve bumped these issues up on my wishlist. Here’s hoping I”m able to read them all in 2019 and this doesn’t spill over to 2020!

WILLIAM GIBSONS ALIEN 3 HC Comic Review for week of July 24th, 2019
This was as enjoyable as I think it could have possibly have been. Were you unhappy with the resolution in the movie version of Alien3? This is the unfilmed original script, which honestly blows the filmed version right out of the water. If you’re a fan of the Alien franchise, you shouldn’t miss this book.

MARVEL ACTION CLASSICS HULK 1 Comic Review for week of July 24th, 2019
Two good Hulk stories, the second of which was better than the first.

LIVEWIRE 8 COVER C RAHZZAH Comic Review for week of July 24th, 2019
The end of one storyline that felt weak and out of place, hopefully leading to a storyline that shows off Livewire’s abilities.

ASCENDER 4 Comic Review for week of July 24th, 2019
Ascender continues to be one of the first books that I read every time it’s in my pull file. Such a great series!

BATMAN CURSE OF THE WHITE KNIGHT 1 Comic Review for week of July 24th, 2019
Picks up nearly immediately after the White Knight series and has the same high quality.

STAR WARS 69 Comic Review for week of July 24th, 2019
hehe, 69. But in a serious note, wow, what a great book.

MARVEL ACTION AVENGERS 6 Comic Review for week of July 24th, 2019
Thor finally gets to beat things up, but Black Panther goes for a swim.

TRUE BELIEVERS ABSOLUTE CARNAGE MANIA 1 Comic Review for week of July 24th, 2019
Were there any symbiots in this book?

BATMAN BEYOND 34 VARIANT EDITION Comic Review for week of July 24th, 2019
The continuation of “oh god, who’s batman, is it that guy, no that’s the bad guy, but we’ll let him do whatever he wants to do”. Bleh.

TRUE BELIEVERS ABSOLUTE CARNAGE SEPARATION ANXIETY 1 Comic Review for week of July 24th, 2019
Why were the symbiots trying to steal Eddie?

PSI LORDS 2 Comic Review for week of July 24th, 2019
Psi-Lords getting their Psi on, and learn that death is not exactly permanent.

TRUE BELIEVERS ABSOLUTE CARNAGE PLANET OF THE SYMBIOTES 1 Comic Review for week of July 31, 2019
I’m reading this and asking, who are these characters and why do I not recognize their motivations?

BATMAN LAST KNIGHT ON EARTH 2 Comic Review for week of July 31, 2019
Fantastic story and fantastic art, I love what is being done here.

PUNK MAMBO 4 Comic Review for week of July 31, 2019
Best shot of this issue was when she was looking into a mirror and talking about her origins, which I had no idea about. Valiant does that a fair bit, where they just throw characters out there with no introduction or “previously on”, so I guess I should come to expect that.

TRUE BELIEVERS ABSOLUTE CARNAGE MIND BOMB 1 Comic Review for week of July 31, 2019
I had no clue that Warren Ellis did a Carnage storyline and it’s everything I could hope for.

MARVEL ACTION SPIDER MAN 6 Comic Review for week of July 31, 2019
looked like a good jumping on point, I’m still saving the previous few issues to read at a later date, I’m still missing #2 due to Diamond or LCS shenanigans.

STAR WARS GALAXYS EDGE 4 Comic Review for week of July 31, 2019
The theme park comes to life!

G.I. JOE A REAL AMERICAN HERO 265 Comic Review for week of July 31, 2019
A.I. storyline stumbles on, I only have a couple more issues of this book to get through.

STAR WARS AGE OF RESISTANCE SPECIAL 1 Comic Review for week of July 31, 2019
Two good stories sandwiching an absolute shit show of a story involving one of the worst characters in the worst of the Disney Star Wars films, with a hamfisted story line about why you should just blindly trust someone telling you to shoot yourself in the head. Admiral Holdo was silly in the movie and she’s even worse here.

EXILIUM 6 Comic Review for week of July 3rd, 2019
A nice wrapup of a series that I came in about halfway for. It could have used some more polish, but what we ended up with was still a fantasticly drawn and scripted book.

ICYMI 6 Comic Review for week of July 3rd, 2019
I’m really digging this series of unrelated stories that have been released previously by PUBLISHER, but I happened to miss.

IT CAME OUT ON A WEDNESDAY 7 Comic Review for week of July 3rd, 2019
I’m also really digging this series of unrelated one shot stories. LOG and BIRD are amazing analogues or Conan.

KINO 17 Comic Review for week of July 3rd, 2019
Final Issue?

MIDNIGHT MYSTERY 1 Comic Review for week of July 3rd, 2019
There’s an audio version of this story as well. It’s not my cup of tea, but I love seeing this type of medium flipping.

MIGHTY MASCOTS 2 Comic Review for week of July 3rd, 2019
This story is absolutely bonkers in the best way possible.

SCRIMSHAW 3 Comic Review for week of July 3rd, 2019
The first couple issues of Scrimshaw had me on the fence, but now that they’re moving the story along, I’m digging what they’re putting down.

SECTION ZERO 4 Comic Review for week of July 3rd, 2019
A time jump didn’t help me feel connected to the story, I barely recognize everyone involved, which is a shame, I was just starting to feel like this was a great story.

SPACE BANDITS 1 COVER E PICHELLI Comic Review for week of July 3rd, 2019
First issue of a new mark millar series, with a very strong start.

STAR TREK YEAR FIVE 3 Comic Review for week of July 3rd, 2019
Remember that Mobster episode from TOS? It’s back, taking some really cool leaps of imagination to make that planet less of a joke.

STAR WARS ADVENTURES 23 Comic Review for week of July 3rd, 2019
Chewing and Lando enter into a space race with an unexpected informant. The A story is much better than the B story this time around.

STAR WARS AGE OF RESISTANCE FINN 1 Comic Review for week of July 3rd, 2019
I’m not sure if I’m on board with every backstory for Finn making him out to be a saint amongst sinners, never having to pull the trigger when ordered to kill innocents.

STAR WARS TARGET VADER 1 Comic Review for week of July 3rd, 2019
Someone’s put a bounty out on Darth Vader! I bet it was the Emperor!

THE PUNISHER 13 Comic Review for week of July 3rd, 2019
Franks back in the US and with some IRL message on how he feels about police using his logo while being cops. Spoiler: cops should used The Punisher’s methods or logos.

TRUE BELIEVERS ABSOLUTE CARNAGE CARNAGE U.S.A. 1 Comic Review for week of July 3rd, 2019
American Carnage, speaking only as I could about a comic I can’t remember much of even though I read it just last night.

TRUE BELIEVERS ABSOLUTE CARNAGE SHE VENOM 1 Comic Review for week of July 3rd, 2019
